Cislunar Space

The region of space between Earth and the Moon, including lunar orbit, increasingly targeted for commercial and government activity.

Cislunar space encompasses the vast region between Earth's orbit and the Moon, including the lunar surface, lunar orbit, and the gravitationally significant Lagrange points of the Earth-Moon system. Once the exclusive domain of national space agencies, cislunar space is becoming a frontier for commercial activity driven by NASA's Artemis program and a growing ecosystem of private lunar landers.

The cislunar economy is expected to grow significantly as companies like Intuitive Machines, Astrobotic, and ispace demonstrate lunar delivery services through NASA's CLPS program. Space domain awareness in the cislunar region is also an emerging priority for defense agencies, as this vast volume is far harder to monitor than near-Earth orbit.
